Nice prezi, easy to read and comprehensive, summed up the lecture pretty well which at times I had trouble following. The examples you provided are good, I never really thought about the role remixing plays in today’s society and becomes really obvious once you look at popular culture and things like Family Guy. One of my favourite examples of remixing though is a song titled Simon Says(language warning) by the rapper Pharoahe Monch, from his 1999 album Internal Affairs. This song is a favourite of mine and is a good example of remixing and the trouble it can get you into if not done correctly. Monch was later sued for not clearing the use of a sample he used for the track. The sample was from Akira Ifukube’s Gojira Tai Mosura which was featured in a Godzilla film. Ifukube was a famous Japanese composer known for classical music and film scores.

like the one who wrote the first comment, yes, i also agree with his opinion. The ideas are summed up pretty well and i could read it without being disrupted since giving us main points through Prezi is a really good idea. Even if the some ideas are a bit hard for me to understand, describing ideas with some videos helped me a lot to understand all ideas. It would be much better if you wrote about Remix based on different point of views. For example, What Remix means to users and what kind of things does Remix make its users can do. And last question, What kind of new mindset does its user get from Remix? 🙂
I really think that it’s good idea to make a post in this way! Your prezi is really good. I like the most that you focused on music examples, the most current one. Your presentation is well organised, all your arguments are founded with a knowledge.
In my opinion a remix culture is our duty! Our generation have a huge culture heritage to derive and create our own version of the culture. Our time is now! We have a technology, we have an ideas and we have something to say! I think that users are creators now, they are very creative and wise. I can see nothing wrong with a remix because all what was created before was a remix too. Every generation’s creativity is fed by a creativity of a previous one. If you are an artist, you can do nothing new in a vacuum, you need an inspiration, you should know your artistic ancestors. It would be a great vanity to create something and think it has been just invited without any influences.
Sam, you are a thinker! Your writing is really easy to follow and I think is a value. Prezi is just a good example of this!
